Description

This intensive training programme aims at strengthening the professionalism and policy-making knowledge of young policy professionals from Eastern Partner countries, particularly in the area of foreign policy. The three-day course focuses on enhancing practical skills and competences vital for deliberating, shaping and implementing policy. It provides knowledge and understanding of the roles and tasks of the foreign policy advisers within the policy cycle, analytical tools, advising techniques, speech writing, negotiation and public communication.

Learning objectives:

  • Role of the Political Advisers (core functions and giving good advice);
  • Shaping complex political environments (devising and implementing strategies; analyzing and understanding the internal and external political context; making decisions with limited information; forecasting and scenario-planning);
  • Engaging internal & external stakeholders (building and sustaining relationships and networks; conducting inclusive stakeholder assessments with all interest groups);
  • Mastering communication and advocacy (policy writing, speech writing, devising communication strategies; public diplomacy; working with media outlets; communicating effectively).

Eligibility

Policy professionals under the age of 30 who work as political officers and cabinet advisers in ministries, presidential administrations and parliaments in Eastern Partner countries – Armenia, Azerbaijan, Belarus, Georgia, Moldova and Ukraine are eligible to apply.

Costs

The organizers will provide selected participants with a scholarship that covers the fee, accommodation, meals and travel costs.
