Startupbootcamp, a global network of industry focused startup accelerators has announced the launch of its first accelerator program in Africa in Cape Town, South Africa.
Through its accelerator programs, the network provides early-stage tech founders access to an international network of mentors, partners, and investors in their industry to help them scale their companies.
Each of its programs has an industry focus which allows us to provide an unmatched level of support for the startups selected into our programs.
Last year, over 161 applications to the network’s global program were from African startups with three South African startups selected for its 2017 InsurTech accelerator program.
This forms part of the reason for the launch of Startupbootcamp Cape Town. The intense 3-month program is focused on sourcing scalable technology solutions applicable to diversified financial services and related industries.
The aim is to grow disruptive startups and connect them with dynamic corporates, providing both with an opportunity to collaborate and build the African tech ecosystem.
10 most promising startups will selected for the inaugural program with each receiving €15,000 and gaining access to mentors, free office space, a convertible note, access to funding and a network of industry partners, investors and venture capital firms.
“The African tech and digital landscape is growing exponentially, and we firmly believe that the future of innovation will come from Africa. Cape Town is one of the most vibrant and creative hubs on the continent and we are both excited and humbled to contribute by attracting global expertise here,” said Philip Kiracofe, co-MD of Startupbootcamp Cape Town.
Applications for the accelerator will close on 9 July 2017 with the program commencing on 4 September 2017 and ending on 30 November 2017 in a Demo Day. Startups with solutions in these areas can apply.
To kick off, startups from all over the world are invited to present their ideas to the Startupbootcamp team at a series of ‘FastTrack’ days between May and July 2017. Accra, Cairo, Cape Town, Johannesburg, Kampala, Lagos, and Nairobi will host a FastTrack.
The areas includes blockchain, connected devices, payment solutions, capital markets and asset management, integrated supply chain, e-commerce, retailtech, insurtech, alternative financing, identity management, digital connectivity, data and behavioral analytics and enabling technologies.
